Zirconium is an element represented by Zr and the atomic number 40 on the periodic table.
Properties and Appearance
Zirconium is a silvery grey-white metal mainly used as a refractory and opacifier. It is part of the refractory and corrosion resistance groups.
Zirconium melts at 1855° F. It’s high resistance to heat and corrosion make it a valuable part of the nuclear industry, in jet engines, and gas turbines. In fact, the nuclear industry uses 90% of the Zirconium produced each year.
The automotive, power generation, chemical, and racing industries also use Zirconium.
