What is Alloy 52?

 

Alloy 52 is a nickel alloy.

 

Properties and Appearance

Alloy 52 is an iron-nickel alloy with a composition of 52% nickel and 48% iron. It is a highly lustrous silvery-white metal and belongs in the controlled expansion alloy group.

This alloy has low thermal expansion properties. With the higher nickel content, Alloy 52 also has magnetic properties and can easily be machined.

Due to these properties, Alloy 52 makes for excellent metal-to-glass seals, hermetic seals, electronic applications, and telecommunications devices, mainly in the military, aerospace, and medical fields.
