What is 302 Stainless Steel (UNS S30200)?

Type 302 is an austenitic chromium-nickel stainless steel. It is a higher carbon, earlier version of Type 304 stainless steel.  Type 302 is non-magnetic when annealed, becomes magnetic when cold worked.

Type 302 stainless steel is corrosion resistant in many applications but has been mostly replaced by 304L when welding is needed.

The following datasheet gives an overview of Type 302.
